Give Where You Live
A Giving Story
We are inspired by art and art imitates life. Therefore a portion of our proceeds from each sale is donated to charities that provide for and preserve what we love. This year we will be donating the proceeds to the listed 501c3 nonprofits below.
Through "Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington" we designate two 501c3 nonprofits per year as our charity of choice. Catalogue for Philanthropy is a locally-focused guide to giving, their goal is to create visibility for local charities, fuel their growth, and create a movement for social good in the DMV region.
**Each donation link take you directly to "Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington" donation page. Donate directly and lend support to someone's story. **
Our 2023 Charity of Choice for "Give Where I Live:
1. Armed Services Arts Partnership
Working in partnership with both veterans’ services organizations and local arts groups, ASAP understands the arts, military culture, and the centrality of trauma-informed work. Traumatic experiences in military service, social and emotional difficulties in transitioning to civilian life, constant moves, deployments: all these contribute to a lost sense of purpose and to social isolation – even more profound when social distancing is the norm. In our post-9/11 years, arts-based initiatives have emerged as among the most promising interventions for veterans and their families. Free, seven-week classes in comedy, improv, storytelling, writing, theater, and visual arts provide an outlet for expression, skill-development, and camaraderie. When the pandemic hit, ASAP immediately took its classes online, increasing their frequency and reach exponentially. The community in DC and VA is now 1,000 veteran-artists strong. This work matters.
2. Art Enables
Art Enables is the District’s only nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for adult artists with disabilities to make, market, and earn income from their original and compelling visual artwork. This progressive art studio and gallery provides artists with the creative space, materials, and vocational support they need to become proud, professional artists. Since its founding in 2001, over 100 artists have created countless pieces of artwork; shown work in over 200 exhibitions locally, nationally, and internationally; and generated $1.2 million in sales. With a new hybrid model for exhibitions, workshops, and other community-based events, Art Enables annually welcomes well over 75,000 people in person and virtually to celebrate its artists’ work and talents. Artists earn income from selling their art and build the skills, relationships, and experience important for a successful artistic career and a meaningful future.
